The Review

Do you ever ponder about plasticine? Do you even know what it is? I’ll give you a hint… it’s the very origin of animation. Plasticine is essentially what we call clay. I know what you’re thinking. How does the animation that we see on television today come from dirt? Two men, Peter Lord and David Sproxton, had a dream to produce an animated motion picture, thus leading to Claymation. They started Aardman Animations in 1972 by forming clay into an image and snapping photos of every little movement to create a motion picture by adding the photos all together. This process took years to create a living story but captured the hearts of many. These stop-motion clay animation techniques led the way to computer animation and the animation we see today. I’m sure you’ve seen their work at some point in time and found the humor and humanity that they have created. If you haven’t then you should, or at least give this documentary more than just a passing glance.
