    The Review

Agrabah, a celebration of what’s possible. The sultan, proud and strong rules over Agrabah with a firm fist and a kind heart. Those teachings have been passed onto his daughter Jasmine. As Jasmine approaches the age where she must choose a suitor, she decides to venture into the bazaar to see the people of her beloved city up close and personal. Along the way, she would meet a young man who captivated her from the beginning. He seemed to be everything that she had dreamt of… Only, he wasn’t who she thought. In an effort to better himself, this young man would find himself searching for a lamp in a cave. Surrounded by riches that could change his life forever, he must ignore all of it in order to have a chance at a future. Upon his retrieval of the lamp, his life would get endlessly complicated. Only upon this complication can he see a future, possibly even a future with the woman of his dreams. This movie is about much more than wishes. Many live-action remakes fall short of the spirit of the original story and at times this one falls short as well. As a whole though, this one goes beyond the spirit of the animated version. If you’re a fan of the original, you’ll be soaring into the stars. Even if you aren’t, this is a magic ride that you’ll be glad you experienced.
