The Medici Bros. Circus has entertained many generations. At the height of the great war, the once prosperous circus found themselves struggling to survive. In a last-ditch effort to turn things around, an investment is made in an elephant. Only this elephant wasn’t just any elephant, she was pregnant. When the baby arrived, it wasn’t what anyone expected. You see, little baby Jumbo had enormous ears. So, now in a circus full of people pretending to be freaks, here stood a real one. There were those around baby Jumbo that didn’t see him as that though. They saw something amazing. In an effort to recoup its losses, the circus sold Jumbo. Leaving Dumbo (baby Jumbo) in the care of his humans. It was soon discovered that Dumbo had a special ability. News of this incredible turn of events brought people from far and wide, including another circus owner. The Medici circus would have an opportunity unlike any other. Everything was dependent on young Dumbo. His first performance in the new environment would test his abilities, but during this performance, he would be called to something else. Following his heart could come at a high cost. Soon his fate would be at the hands of his humans. What they decide to do jeopardizes everything they’ve ever known. If they succeed, it could be incredible, but if they fail, who knows. This live-action reboot of the original strays quite a bit from the original. Some important elements from the original are left out or outright replaced with content that seems foreign to the heart of what Dumbo was. As touching as it is, it has maybe strayed a bit too far for fans of the classic.
