The Review

When a young girl finds herself in a difficult situation. She finds solace in things that she's comfortable in. Through these things she ends up coming across something that is quite unusual. Before she has a chance to react, she finds herself on an adventure. Her adventure will be filled with a variety of events, a new land, new beings and even things that she couldn't have even dreamt of. She'll begin to realize some of the advantages and disadvantages to being in this position, even as she does so... She'll long for something even though she doesn't know what it is. Her new friend will introduce her to an entirely new world. Because of this, she is able to introduce him to an entirely new world too. This is an endearing tale that reaches across many boundaries. A timeless classic that has been turned into a movie, will the movie end up as timeless as the storybook itself... That remains to be seen. There are some situations in the story that might be a bit intense for young kids. As a whole, it is a family friendly story that helps people reconnect with their childhood or maybe even share part of their own childhood with children of their own.

***Posse***

Listen carefully. Never get out of bed. Never go to the window. Never look behind the curtain. Sophie does every one of those very things and it opens her eyes to a whole world she never knew existed. I had no expectations going into this due to never reading the book. This was a warm-hearted, lovable movie with a sweet old giant that you learn to love. The facial tics, his eyes, his manner of speech and the relationship he develops with Sophie were all wonderful to watch. This is a great family film that my kids will love. The world or should I say the realm of giants does exist, but humans have no clue. Good thing for Sophie she spotted the BFG Big Friendly Giant and not the kid eating other giants we come to know. The story of BFG's relationship with the other giants is not very pleasant. So where is giant country? It's way off the map so to speak (you'll have to see it and you'll get it). Every generation can be charmed by this adventure. Kevin
