Thomas Quick means ‘Thomas the fast’, but both of these are nicknames that belong to Sture Bergwall. Sture or Thomas Quick was believed to be Sweden’s first serial killer confessing to over 30 murders while being held in a mental institution. These murders were random and located all over Sweden. Many questioned why he confessed or if he even could’ve committed these crimes. This film is a documentary that recounts Sture’s life, his confessions, reenactments, retractions and interviews with those involved in these events including Sture himself. Being Sweden’s first serial killer, he received a lot of attention and a crew that discussed and observed him to ultimately figure out the age old question, ‘Why do murderers confess?’ You may or may not be familiar with this story but hearing the story straight from the source will help ease your understanding and hopefully answer more questions than it creates. This is an interesting documentary, to say the least, but beware of the feelings it will leave you with.
