Imagine, a time of year where everyone can take out their aggression and carnal desires without any repercussions. That is the idea that is proposed by one researcher in the hopes of reducing the overall crime rates. Just 12 hours, a time where any crime (including murder) is legal. During which, there will be no services available including the police, fire department, ambulances or any other means of aid. Sounds insane and yet it could be effective. The only way to find out is to test the idea. Only the area where it has been chosen to take place has its own issues as well. To have this be a successful test, certain things need to happen, and they do, just not in an expected manner. When things start to go wrong, the ones in charge do something about it. Will this experiment succeed? Or is there something more that we don't understand yet? That's what we're about to find out. Fans of the other purge movies will appreciate the origin story.
