Old english folklore tells many stories similar to this. So much as to actually be the idea for this story as well asﾠthe dialogue that is presented here. In early America, the puritans left their native England to come to the Americas. Upon arrival there was a strict code of behaviour that everyone was expected to uphold in the communities. The families that didn’t abide by those were outcasts and forced to leave the communities. This family that we see here got cast from their community. There was much more to the environment in which they decided to settle and start their new lives. They were about to learn the extent of it, when one of their own goes missing. One by one they begin to question one another and in doing so they slowly unravel the fabric that holds their family together. What is tearing them apart? A darkness beyond that they could ever understand. This tale is creepy for sure but doesn’t live up to the hype that preceded it. The story itself was based in historical data, the production was detailed and accurate to the period almost to the point of confusion (some of the dialogue is difficult to understand). As a whole, it’s an interesting watch that will leave you wondering what really happened to inspire such ideas… Is there something more? That’s up for you to decide.
