    The Review

War Machine isn’t your typical war movie. It’s much, much slower. That have been done on purpose though with what we see General McMahon dealing with. He’s tasked with getting in done in Afghanistan, finishing the war, gaining the trust of the people, win the war and come home. That my friends is the funny part. Instead of “getting it done” he’s dealing with bureaucratic and political B.S. and seemingly pointless assessments. It plays on this throughout the entire movie. It, at times, is annoyingly real. Us, as the watchers of the movie, are rolling our eyes and shaking our heads at the crap he has to deal with when everybody’s mouths are moving but no action being taken. Talk, talk, talk, so go get it done, but you won’t have everything you need to do it with…good luck! Can we relate to that? Have you heard that before? So can he get it done? And how in the world do you do that with what he has to deal with and overcome? Brad Pitt plays a very interesting role I’m sure you’ve never seen him in before. All in all it’s a great performance from Pitt. At the heart of him McMahon is a simple yet odd man, bu still has layers that we see come out in certain instances. The humor is dry but comes out at key moments to lighten it up. It’s a quietly entertaining movie. If you like legitimate war movies, this isn’t it. If a slower political type movie based on a war is more your style and you’re curious to see Brad Pitt play a character like this, than you may enjoy this.
