The Review

We're given a glimpse into life in 1877 throughᅠthe eyes of DidoᅠElizabeth Belle Lindseyᅠand those around her, It is based upon a true story. This movie definitely carries the racial discrimination that was so true to the time. A father dares to challenge this by acknowledging his daughter in a society where that just isn't done. The father/daughter story left us with a taste wanting more. We see a snippet then he's only a reference instead of a character. As Dido grows under the wings of her caretakers and new found friend, she realizes that she doesn't fit. Not with this family, not with the one she was born in to. Her determination to find her own way is refreshing. The mannerisms and such of a lady of the time are followed but the free will and wanting's of the heart are clear to be seen. The biggest faults in this movie are not sticking true to the time period in entertainment and decorum. It's mostly spot on but throughout the movie, there are clear violations. Items that belong in the 20th century instead of the 19th... Overall the story was well told and for a low budget creation. It's not for everyone but if you want to see it, I might recommend waiting for the DVD/Blu-ray.
