Survival, that's the basis of what this is all about. It's never that simple though. A research mission on Mars is all set to do what they need to. A freak sandstorm gets in their way and one of them is lost before they can evacuate. What the survivors don't realize is the one that was lost will turn out to be further lost than they can imagine. As the crew members continue towards Earth, Watney must survive in an inhospitable and almost unsurvivable environment. The days become weeks and soon months as he finds ingenious ways to survive. His options are limited and the options for rescue are even more so. So what are the options... Leave him to die? Launch a probe that has no chance of reaching him in time or ??? This is an intensely emotional drama, we are brought along on the journey that has many paths. We are drawn into Watney's limited world, his emotional and physical struggles as well as the psychological part of the drama that goes deeper than the rest. At the same time, we get to see the story of the crew that was able to evacuate and their story of their journey home... Then there is the rest of us here at home that were watching all of this unfold, and the ones at NASA trying to plan for the present and the future. You will go through a gamut of emotions in this sci-fi story that is done in such a way it feels like it could be real (even though we know it's not). Come along for the ride in this harrowing spectacle that will leave you laughing and crying, and imagine just for a moment... What could be...
