Winston Churchill, just the name alone is synonymous with history. Why though? What is it that has made him such an integral part of history? The Darkest Hour is about to show us. At the height of WWII, Europe was facing imminent defeat. Leadership was lacking, to say the least, and Hitler was seizing every advantage that he could. When Neville Chamberlain was no longer able to do his duties, a successor was chosen. Not without a great debate though, that successor was Winston Churchill. Thrust into a position of power during one of the darkest times in history. His approach was brash and gruff, he said what he meant and he meant what he said. All without worrying what others thought, his only interest was to save his island. Little did he know that the actions that he took would set a new course for the war. This is what happened, from a perspective that few have ever explored. History buffs will be enthralled by this, as well as those who lived through it (directly or indirectly). A fascinating introspective that dares to push the boundaries by portraying history without the filler. Considering the connection to another 2017 film, if only that had been as poignant as this was. Curious what I mean? Check it out and find out for yourself.
