The antiquated idea of gender roles has been challenged many times through the ages. This is one of those stories. Billie Jean King, an incredible tennis star, earned her way to the top. Even there, she had to fight to prove that she was worth the same prize amounts that the men received. She crashed into the glass ceiling often enough that she fractured it. It took participating in a match that would make or break the cause that she and her fellow female tennis players were fighting for, along with women everywhere. As well as that role is represented here, the opposition is presented in a way that is blatantly offensive to both sides. Though true for some of the day, the representation of the male chauvinist is overwhelming. Alongside the obvious storyline, is the deeper story of friendships/loyalties/and loves. These subjects will challenge some and corroborate others, both reaching out to people in different ways. Presentations throughout will take you to the heart of everything. It's easy to get caught up in this story, and will certainly reach a much wider audience than it may appear at first.
