A look into the life of James Cameron. What we see is just a glimpse of makes him who he is. His life, his family, his career, his obsession all unfold before our eyes. Seeing what he saw through the deep sea discovery of Titanic, The Bismark and ultimately the alien world of the deep. Is he a filmmaker turned explorer or an explorer that makes films. The title "Deepsea Challenge 3D" is accurate and yet misleading. It implies a 3D view of the underwater world. Unfortunately, that's a small portion of what we see. What we do get to see is James "Jim" building his own submersible. He went to Titanic and The Bismarck in corporate vessels. This is the step by step process of his team building one. The successes and failures of tests and trials. The team faces its ultimate challenge near the end of the journey where they're all pushed past the breaking point with a tragedy that rocks them all to the core. The rest of the team decides to continue and see this adventure through. Ultimately the craft gets finished but just when they're ready, a new series of challenges get in the way. Will he make it to the bottom of Challenger Deep? His adventures might not always go as planned but he'll never give up. If you're looking for something different, this is interesting. A slightly beefed up version of something you'd see on Discovery. The 3D rendering left a little to be desired (some great and some sub-par). Overall a detailed look into the man behind the camera...
