Summer has arrived at last. The turmoil of the 7th-grade year has come to an end and now before education can go any further... Greg and his friends must first survive the summer. Greg has plans to spend the summer doing things that he loves, to his surprise, his parents have different plans for him. His parents have different ideas as to what would be best for him but both of their ideas include Rodrick. So what can he do... He finds a solution in his best friend Rowley. Will it be enough? Time will tell. This story picks up at the end of the 7th-grade (which we saw the beginning of in Rodrick Rules), the biggest problem being that it's obvious that years have passed in a single school year. Yes, hard work and stress ages us, but not to this level. The whole idea seems to grasp at pieces of broken ideas to form a film that leaves you with more questions than answers. Though it's a continuation of the story, it was probably better left between the pages instead of the big screen.
