This incredible story picks up where it left off, only a few years in the future. We get to see Winter thriving in her environment with her new tail as she entertains her adoring fans. Winter has bonded with Panama, the oldest dolphin at the Clearwater Aquarium. When something happens to Panama, we see changes in Winter. She has to be isolated from the rest of the animals and even the humans she's closest to. As Winter struggles through this grief process, everyone at the aquarium try to keep things going. The USDA steps in when they realize that Winter is alone, dolphins, due to their social nature need to be with others to survive. The only other dolphin is Mandy and if she'd be a good fit for Winter is yet to be seen. When all hope seems lost, a rescue operation to save a juvenile dolphin gets underway. They name her hope and do their best to help her survive. As Hope grows and gains strength, it's down to the last option. Winter needs another dolphin... Will it be Mandy or Hope? What will happen?
