Based on the graphic novel I Kill Giants, the story introduces us to Barbara, our giant killer. This is powerful family drama about a girl who has to cope with very traumatic situations in her life, at home and at school. The story will bring to light the living arrangements with her older sister and brother and instead of her parents in the movie. When you’re considered a freak, an outcast, a weirdo so to speak, all she has is herself and her mission. The acting in here is very well performed especially when playing off the more seasoned, well-known actors you will see. She holds her own very well. The payoff at the end makes it definitely worth the watch as well. It does have A Monster Calls vibe to it but has enough differences throughout to separate itself from it. Fans of the graphic novel should be pleased with this due to the fact that the movie follows the novel nearly word for word and shot for shot. The shots are full of detail and look great and the CGI is incredibly well done for the relatively small budget the movie had to work with. This is one of those movies that I suggest you don’t watch the trailer! It is not like what is portrayed in the trailers. Take the movie for what it is when you see it. All in all this is a very good, very powerful, very emotional young female lead family movie that you will enjoy.
