Rachel Joy Scott was just an average young girl growing up in Colorado. Her parents divorced when she was young, which left her, her mother and siblings to practically fend for themselves. When times were the darkest, her mom looked to God for guidance. Rachel always had some issues with that. Trying to find where she belonged. Trying to find where she fit in. Trying to find the meaning behind anything and everything. She just couldn't understand that God was the answer to it all and because of this belief system (or lack thereof), she engaged in some questionable behavior. It was when she had the opportunity to see things from a different view away from home that she began to find her footing in life. Because of this she quickly found solace by writing down her thoughts and feelings. All of this going on during the turbulent time in youth known as High School. Only this wasn't just any High School. This was Columbine High School. Her words, her impact, her life became so much more than she could have imagined. This is that story. You know the story of Columbine, but you don't know her story. This corrects that. Does it explain the how or why of that horrible day? No, but it does give insight into something much more. The tone and topic addressed here aren't for everyone but it is something to be appreciated for what it is and who she was.
