Young and idealistic Jack Ryan drops out of his Ph.D. program at the London School of Economics to serve his country in the Marine Corps following the terrorist attack on New York during September 11, 2001. ﾠAfter an injury nearly cripples him, Jack is approached by a man named Harper. ﾠHarper again asks Jack to serve his country in the CIA, this time from behind a desk tracking the funds that allow groups to fund attacks on the US. ﾠThough promised a desk job, an audit of secret accounts results in him unwillingly becoming active agent trying to prevent an economic attack on the US.
This movie is certainly entertaining. ﾠThere is enough intermittent action along with supporting characters reminding Jack that not everyone has a Ph.D. in economics thrown in to keep the movie from becoming too focused on the technical economic aspects of the story. ﾠIf you like movies in the action/spy genres, then you'll very likely like this.
