You have the right to remain silent! The real question is why? The 1st Amendment guarantees free speech. There are only 2 things that aren't protected: actual or inferred threats of violence or threats to do harm to persons or property. Everything else is protected... Everything! That includes topics that you disagree with, opposing points of view, even hate speech. You might wonder why hate speech isn't included in the exclusions above. That's simpler than it seems, just because you think someone is being hateful in their speech doesn't mean they can't speak it (as long as there are no actual or inferred threats). Nowadays, there are safe spaces where people can go to feel "safe" from those who are asserting their first amendment rights. That's the problem today, people are taught to be reactive rather than responsive. If you disagree with someone, that doesn't give you a right to silence them. If you're affected by the words being spoken, simply choose to debate or depart. Express your views, even if others disagree. We are the only country in the world that allows and protects free speech. Everyone doesn't have to agree, the world would be a pretty boring place if we did but everyone does have to be respectful of others that are voicing their thoughts/feelings without negative repercussion. If you only take one thing away from this is that free speech is a right, safe spaces are not. Get it yet? if not, watch this again...
