The Review

Quentin Tarantino does it again... The question is... What did he do? Here we have a somewhat comic book style animation mixed with characters that were almost brought in from other stories. We have Duke Nukem, Quark (Star Trek), The Godfather, etc... Except they aren't them, we can only surmise they were the inspiration for the characters (originality???). A seductress uses her words and her body to play men for fools. She chews them up, spits them out and they still do her dirty work. All the while we see what makes Sin City what it is. The exotic dancers, the back alley dirty deals, the high rollers and the nobodies all mixed together. As to what he was trying to portray, it definitively was something. There is brilliance in the madness if you look hard enough. It's hard to find it with the inherent flaws but it's there. The over exaggerated sound effects reminded me of the 1950-60's action hero shows. The only thing missing were the captions that said... POW, BANG, UGH, etc. If you're a Quintin Tarantino fan, you might enjoy pieces of it. If you aren't, stay home. Either way, it was work of art. Just remember... Art is open to interpretation.
