When a bunch of friends who took an adventure hiking into the mountains, they never realized how far their adventure would take them. When one of them comes across something unusual, it changes him. Upon returning home, everything seems normal. Appearances can be deceiving.
When a young woman goes missing, the police see it as rebellion but someone close to the family wants to take a closer look. His personal investigation will bring him to the Pontifex Institute. There's something about this place but he can't quite put his finger on it. When a community tragedy occurs it brings him to look even deeper. What he finds in the depths of the Institute will shatter him to his core. Even with being aware of the dread, he is drawn to whatever it is. Though his journey will take him to what he is looking for, what he finds is only the beginning.
This story is a slow burn psychological thriller. The subject matter and the general tone of the story will narrow the audience. It's definitely not for the faint at heart, it could also be off putting for those who are religious (though it does have tones that could reach some). Just come prepared that it's slow and even at its conclusion, there could be more to come.
