The human condition is rarely seen as raw as it is presented to us by Salgado. He spent his life capturing moments frozen in time. Only someone with a deep passion of story telling through photography could have captured the images that he did. His work spanned decades, exploring areas of the world thought to be unexplorable by many, only to tell a dark tale of despair. Salgado managed to capture some of the most beautiful landscapes on the planet but he also captured some of the darkest moments of humanity. Not so much the ravages of war, but the ravages of drought and famine. How far people are willing to go for survival in a wasteland is beyond comprehension. Yet, in this harsh wasteland, he is able to capture the beauty in the madness. The story told throughout only seems to embed the message behind the chilling images. It's a beautifully told tale of the darkness of the world with a heavy bias towards politics and fanaticism. Take the time and look deeper than the underlying message and you'll find a glimpse of an incredible world... Good and bad... Or if you find yourself moved by this, stop and ask yourself why... The answer is deeper than you think.
