An incredibly moving tale about a dream, a dream that brought a skyline to life. That was the dream of Philippe Petit, to traverse the void between the Twin Towers. This is ultimately his story, but his story becomes so much more. The towers were seen as eyesores, as a menace, and even as giant filing cabinets. Little did Philippe know that his seemingly impossible dream would bring them to life for an entire world. He faced the impossible and made it possible in a way few can fathom. The title "The Walk" seems almost too simplistic, but at the same time, it captures an essence in and of itself. So now the question becomes, would this have become a movie without that unforgettable day in 2001? What happened didn't change Philippe's story but how many really knew his story? Would it have meant as much learning how they came to life if we hadn't learned/seen/experienced the horror of that day... We'll never know. This movie never touches on the sadness that lies in the history of the towers, only on the joy and how that joy came to be. It comes down to asking yourself is the movie about Philippe or the towers... Maybe it's both. Either way, this is a story that will take your breath away...
