Walking with the enemy is a brutally brilliant drama that is based on actual events. Hungary was caught in the middle between the Russians and the Germans during WWII. The population was a mix of religions but the majority of the atrocities occurred against the Jewish population. Young men of the day were expected to join the Labor Service, only when some of the gatherings of those young men turned out to be something more... It created fear and dread in those involved. The Nazi's had little to no sympathy towards the Jewish community, the Jew's were seen as a scourge on society that must be eradicated. In the midst of this, one young man had the courage to stand against the face of adversity. The actions of this young man and a few of his friends helped to save the lives of thousands. It may have been a small number in the grand scheme but that doesn't lessen the impact. Some historians may pick apart some minor flaws in this story but that's not where the focus is meant to be. This is a story of heroism and heartache, of love and loss but most of all of a story of survival against all odds. Definitely, an emotional tale that touches on one of the darkest times in history. Stay into the credits for information on the actual people involved. It might be slow at times but you won't be disappointed.
