When a distress call is intercepted, the only ship equipped to respond is the U.S.S. Enterprise. As they respond to this, they’ll soon find themselves in a difficult position. The area where they are going is unknown to many, yet there is something that they must face. What they don’t know is that the person that they were attempting to help was simply the bait in a trap that might be the end for the Enterprise and her crew. The closer they get, the more dangerous it becomes as they are attacked by a swarm of machines that threaten all that they have fought so hard for. This swarm will force them to the planet’s surface, where they’ll find an unlikely ally as well as a piece of the past which just might ensure that they have a future. Come along on this journey and experience this in a way that finally shows a bit of originality. The fact that the series of movies has led to thirteen separate stories has led to repetition. This though, hints to parts of the past without replaying something old over again. If this is a mere glimpse into what’s to come, let us hope that they stay the course.
Aﾠhostile alien race lures the Enterprise and its crew into a trap. They have to band together to stop the bad guy before he does something horrible. Gee, we’ve heard that before about 30 times somewhere right? Well, Justin Lin and Simon Pegg took it a bit Beyond that and made a great movie. Being a Star Trek fan growing up I was hoping this would go above and beyond Into Darkness, which had mixed reviews from fans and critics alike.ﾠ I strongly believe this will satisfy both original and new Star Trek fans. The side stories going on with Spock and with Kirk are well done. Chris Pine has become Kirk through the past films and I love him in this role. The banter back and forth between him, Scotty and Spock is always funny and it hit just right here as well.ﾠ The relationship we get to see between McCoy and Spock are also funny but their interaction in this film is truly fun to watch. They are the sci-fi odd couple for sure. This installment did indeed go beyond my expectations! — Kevin (7.5/10)
