The most important thing to Don Corleone is loyalty... He expects his family, friends, and colleagues to uphold a certain level of respect and loyalty above all else. Without it there is nothing. The business that he's in requires it more than anything else. What business is that??? He is the head of one of the five crime families of the day. When the day of his daughter's wedding comes about, he wants nothing more than to celebrate with his family but he must take care of business first. As we see time tick by, we see the in's and out's of his business affairs. The consequences when dealing with betrayal and what justice really means. Along with all of this we see how far he will (or won't) go in his business doings. There are many things that he has no qualms about doing but there is one thing that is just too much. In this tale, we are invited into the lives of a world that many cannot fathom. The story delves into a darkness that most pretend doesn't exist, but the realities are that we never know how deep the darkness is. Although it's a powerful story with intense and poignant characters, there are several flaws throughout. Some can be easily overlooked but there are way too many others that take away from the power of the story being portrayed. Even with all of that, this was an intensely powerful drama that is destined to become a classic.
