The story of Tarzan has been told time and time again. Each time just a little bit differently. What we have here is no different. Here we are introduced to a man that was a boy raised in the jungle that learned to survive in the most hostile environments. No man ever started with less. Now take the love story of Tarzan and Jane, here it’s once again told slightly differently. I can’t divulge too much without giving a portion of the story away but let’s simply say… It’s different than it’s ever been portrayed before. Now there is more to this, than just the story of Tarzan. ﾠIt’s not just his story. It’s a story that involves him but deals directly with him but in an indirect way. That might not make much sense at first but upon seeing the story, all the pieces will fall into place. Though this is a different adaptation of the classic story, it still has the intrigue and adventure that you’d expect. That being said, it’s far from the blockbuster that it has been played up to be. It’s definitely a story that is worth watching, but if you’re not a huge fan of the Tarzan story… Maybe wait for it on VOD (Video on demand) or DVD / Blu-Ray. Either way, it adds a bit more to a story we’re all familiar with.
We know the story and the legend; This is not an origin story like most people think. Itﾒs after leaving the jungle with Jane story. He knows who he is, he’s married to Jane and living in England.
So is this a Tarzan movie or not. Oh yes it is. Very shortly into the story, we are back in the jungle where The Legend of Tarzan is well known. So what kind of story is it? Is it about Tarzan or just the Legend of him? Well, both actually but told in a unique way. Timely flashbacks provide the Tarzan origin well for those unfamiliar with the Tarzan legend/story. I was looking forward to this movie with some anticipation but was expecting a more grand scale. For those really looking forward to a blockbuster/epic adventure type movie would probably wait to see it digitally. But I did enjoy watching in on the big screen. And for those who would love a what happened after type story, I believe you would enjoy this. After all, the title speaks for itself, it’s The Legend of Tarzan, not the origin of. — Kevin
