The students of today are tomorrow’s future. There’s only a short window of time to teach them. We all learn throughout our entire lives but children live their entire lives based upon what they’re taught when they’re young. This… Now… Dares you to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. Schools universally are starting to use the Common Core teaching methods and materials. Even in areas where they aren’t saying it’s Common Core, it’s a derivative of it. Our children are being taught to fail by learning multiple complicated methods of solving the same problem than being forced to comply with one when testing comes. What ever happened to the simplest answer is usually the best. Why are we confusing our kids with standards that the Gov’t is being paid to shove down their throats. Not everyone enjoys school, whether it be today, yesterday, the future or the past. Now I’m not saying that education should be stunted from growth but we do need to be involved with knowing what our children are learning. Even if you don’t have kids, they’re all our children. We pay tax dollars whether we have children or not. Shouldn’tﾠ we have a voice in what they’re learning? There are individuals, groups, websites, etc. banding together against a universal enemy. Common Core. It’s not a Republican, Democrat, Obama, Bush, he said, she said a thing… It’s basic. Our children deserve to learn the history of our nation and of the world. They deserve to be educated in an environment where they can learn and grow. Their curiosity needs to be nurtured so that they can become productive members of society. They are our future. Will you get involved? Are you willing to be uncomfortable? One voice doesn’t make much of a sound but it can make a difference. Go forth, speak out, make a difference!
